The Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated ODAC rival Roanoke College 87-76 last Sunday after the game had been postponed due to snow. The 11 point victory over Roanoke was not only the team's eighth win in its last 12 games, but it also was head coach Hilliary Scott's first victory over his alma mater and former coach, Page Moir.

Senior guard Steven Echols stayed hot to lead LC with 26 points and seven assists, marks which moved him into 10th all-time in scoring at LC with 1,191 career points and second all-time in assists with 298, according to the LC Athletics website. Echols is currently third in the ODAC in points per game with 20 and he leads the ODAC in assists, steals and minutes per game with 5.16, 3.63 and 33.53, respectively, according to the ODAC website.

Sunday's game was the second time LC played Roanoke this season and showed two teams heading in opposite directions. Roanoke beat LC 95-88 in Roanoke back on Dec. 5, the loss for LC stretched their losing streak to six games as part of a 1-6 start and pushed Roanoke's record to 4-2. Both teams have seen their seasons turn around since then however when LC went on a four game winning streak after losing to Roanoke and they have won eight out of 12 games since pushing the team's record to 9-10. Roanoke on the other hand went on a five game losing streak after its win over LC and has now lost 12 out of their last 14 games for a record of 6-14, according to the ODAC website.

The final stretch of the season will not be easy for the team as the remaining schedule consists of all ODAC games, including matchups with no. 11 Eastern Mennonite University, no. 9 Randolph-Macon College and no. 2 Guilford College. The team's final two home games are Wednesday Feb. 10 against Washington and Lee University, and Wednesday Feb. 17 against Randolph College.
