New eatery rolls onto LC

The president of Roly Poly, Jim Barttleman, said that a Lynchburg College representative approached him with the opportunity, which he gladly accepted. Roly Poly also operates at another location on Lakeside Drive.
The "purveyor of fine sandwiches, soups and salads" opens Friday, August 28.
Students can use their LC Express or Westover account at Roly Poly and have the option of dining in, calling ahead for quick pick up or pre-ordering from RolyPoly.com. Roly Poly will deliver to students on campus.
Most students seem to be happy about Roly Poly coming to campus.
"I like Roly Poly. I've been to the one on Lakeside many times so I'm pretty excited about it," senior Rebecca Maier said.
Senior Sarah Gustin also said she was excited about the new food source.
"I'm really glad we have another healthy option on campus," Gustin said.
While many are enthusiastic about this change on campus, some students will miss their late nights at Stinger's.
"I am not happy about it. I think [Roly Poly's] food isn't as good or as up to par as Stinger's was," sophomore Essam Qassem said.
Unafraid of competition, Manager of Brewed Awakenings Renee Spaulding believes that business will still be great for them.
"I don't think [Roly Poly] will be competition. We've had our regulars for many years. People just will not have time in between classes to go all the way to Roly Poly. We have things that they don't have," Spaulding said. "I wish them well. We'll see what happens."
Roly Poly has been "Serving Sandwich Lovers Since 1997" and offers cold rolled and hot pressed wraps, salads and soups. A 12-inch wrap costs $6.25. Groups of eight or more can order "The Works," which offers a sandwich platter, chips or side, fresh baked cookies and drinks for $8.25 a person. They do personalized catering and group boxed lunches for students on the go.
Their first shop opened in 1996 in Atlanta, Ga. Today there are now over 125 Roly Poly sandwich shops throughout 25 different states, according to Rolypoly.com
Roly Poly's hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday. They are also open from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday.
