Lynchburg College sports teams have seen a great deal of success this spring season as multiple teams have captured ODAC titles, and some are still alive in various playoff tournaments.

The LC softball team captured its third straight ODAC championship this past weekend as they capped off their ODAC tournament run with a 4-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite University. LC sophomore pitcher Katie Bruce went 2-0 in three appearances in the tournament highlighted by her complete game against Eastern Mennonite in which she only allowed three hits, earned her 20th win of the season and helped the team clinch another ODAC title. LC junior Rachel Gallagher also had a terrific tournament for the team as she hit .615 with four home runs and 10 runs batted in and was named Tournament MVP, according to the LC athletics website. Not only has the team won their third straight ODAC title, but they also earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. A time, date and location are yet to be determined.

Gallagher attributed the team's success to hard work and a strong focus on their goal of winning another ODAC championship.

"We all work hard every day as a team. We all knew the goal for the year was to become three-peat ODAC champions, so we all worked hard in order to accomplish our goal," Gallagher said.

LC baseball finished the regular season with a second consecutive regular season ODAC title and the number one seed going into the ODAC tournament. Last week's ODAC tournament, however, didn't go well for LC as they were eliminated from play after losing their first two games. They lost 4-1 to Washington and Lee last Thursday and 5-0 to Virginia Wesleyan last Friday, according to the LC athletics website. The team will now wait and see if they receive a possible at-large bid into the South Regional tournament or if their season will be over with a record of 25-14.

LC men's lacrosse clinched the number two seed in the ODAC tournament on the last day of their regular season with 10-7 upset victory on the road at Washington and Lee, according to the LC athletics website. The team earned a first round bye as the second seed behind Roanoke College who finished undefeated at 16-0. LC hosted Washington and Lee on Wednesday after Washington and Lee advanced past sixth seeded Guilford in the tournament's first round. Updated results and scheduling can be found on the ODAC athletics website.
