"It feels great putting some notches in the win column and getting the team back on track," junior captain Erin Majerowicz said.
The first of the four games was against conference rival Washington and Lee University. According to the LC press release, Washington and Lee's Sallie Armstrong started the game with a breakaway goal. However, that was all the Generals had left in them as the Weir sisters, Allie and Jenny, took control of the game for LC. The sisters scored both of the goals that lead to a 2-1 victory for LC.
During midweek conference play, the Hornets took a short drive down Route 29 to play rivals Sweet Briar College. LC cruised to yet another victory behind Caitlin Gibb's two goals, defeating Sweet Briar College 5-1. According to the Sweet Briar College press release, the Vixens' only goal was scored by Melissa Carron.
"It was cool going to watch the girls on a different campus scoring at will," said freshman Andrew Wilfong, who attended the game at Sweet Briar College.
The Hornets then took their winning streak back home to Shellenberger Field, defeating Shenandoah University 11-0. The Hornets took control of this game quickly as Allie Weir scored the first four goals of the game.
On Saturday afternoon, the LC field hockey team kept their winning streak rolling against Frostburg State, winning 5-2. Allie Weir and Caitlin Gibb both notched two scores in the game. Freshman Jordan Warrington also scored her second career goal against FSU.
"Beating Frostburg was a huge win for us, but now we have to focus our attention on our upcoming competition," senior captain Carter Maxey said.
