Many students who attend Lynchburg College are not aware of all the things to do around the city of Lynchburg and don't figure it out until their sophomore or junior year. College is supposed to be the best time of your life, but if you don't know what to do then it may not turn out to be.
Believe it or not, the City of Lynchburg has several entertaining things to offer to college students (that sometimes even includes a student discount).
There are several places around Lynchburg to eat that many people would probably not stop at while driving by. Daddy Bim's, located less than a mile off campus on Old Forest Road, is one of the most popular restaurants among Lynchburg College students. If students show their student ID card they receive a discount that increases with each visit. Daddy Bim's specializes in barbeque and has several types of sandwiches to choose from, as well as customer favorite Shea Crab soup, all at an affordable price.
"Daddy Bim's is definitely my favorite place to eat in Lynchburg," senior Matthew Hrushka said.
Another popular place for college students to eat is Osaka. Osaka is a Japanese fast food restaurant located off of Old Forest Road right near Isabella's. Again if you bring your student ID card you can receive a free drink with your meal. Osaka offers things such as hibachi steak, teriyaki chicken, and dumplings.
Another all time favorite among Lynchburg College students is La Carreta. La Carreta offers good Mexican food at an affordable price. Also, for the 21 and over crowd they have dollar margaritas on Tuesday nights. The closest La Carreta is located off of Langhorne Road right across from the hospital, but they have five other locations in and around Lynchburg.
For all the adventurous outdoors people there are plenty of places to go hiking, swimming and camping in Lynchburg and surrounding counties. Off Candlers Mountain road there are several trails that are owned by Liberty University, but open to everyone. Another mountain located about 30 minutes west of Lynchburg that was once thought to be the Virginia's highest peak is Sharp Top. It is about a mile and a half hike up with some extremely steep areas but it has a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Parkway once you reach the top. There are also two other peaks in the same area called Flat Top and Harkening Hill.
